2020 – Seasons plans are to run NHRA Heritage series and ANRA out of Famoso Raceway. Race 1 Heritage March Meet- The first attempt at B-Gas resulted in qualifying 17th out of 32 car field. This is a very competitive class. We qualified with an 8.64 which meant 16 cars ran closer to 8.60. 20k+ fans in the stands led to lots of visits by fans. Nightmare t-shirts nearly sold out. Mike from Chris Alstons Chassisworks stopped by to check out Nightmare. We went out first round but our team views the weekend as a successful first attempt. Race 2 Heritage April 5,6th has been postponed due to covid 19 possibly rescheduled July 18th at Sacramento Raceway 2020 – Pure Speed During a Test at Sacramento Raceway, we ran a ¼ mile time of 8.08 seconds at 174.91 mph. This is an all-steel 3400lbs car with small tires. It definitely moved around on the groove on that pass. What we learned from that test pass is Nightmare can easily run in the 7s. February testing was been centered around slowing the car to run 8.60 for B-Gas 2019 Street Car Super Nationals Mustang Madness- We used a very conservative tune for the first time out. We qualified 6th and took a win light round 1. The weather turned out to be the event's biggest challenge with 2 days of rain and a hail storm. Never the less Nightmare sparked the interest of many fans including a visit from the Pro-charger Representative. 2018 – 2019 Research and Development Making a huge jump in Horsepower resulted in the discovery of an extensive list of powertrain parts that needed an upgrade. Nightmare racing new Ford FE creation produces nearly 1800 HP at 8000RPM on a fairly moderate tune. 2016 - 2017, 10th in Super Pro at Sacramento Raceway
This year has been full of challenges and it’s the second week. At the 2016 Street Car Super Nationals in Vegas we experienced Trans Brake problems. It failed to hold the Nightmare at the starting line during Open Comp 1st round which was a first round loss. During the 3 weeks off between seasons the team removed the transmission and made repairs including a new ATI Torque convertor. We took a trip to Whitfieldmfg in Upland to add a new Kirky Racing seat and a Parachute Mount. We picked up the car December 30th and battled the rose Parade crowds on the freeway during the return trip. December 31st, 2016 Test and Tune Sacramento. With all the repairs and upgrades done a test session was needed before the ET Bracket season begins. A broken Rocker Shaft ended testing after the first pass. January 1st, 2017 Race 1. Super Pro- Holidays bring parties and time with friends and family. Unfortunately it also brings closed speed shops and parts warehouses. A wounded valve train produced a first round loss. I always keep it positive and look at the big picture. Nightmare was able to scrounge 20 points from the first event. January 14th, 2017 Test and Tune. Repairs have been completed. New Harland Rocker Shafts, Harland Roller Rockers and Comp Cam Push Rods. Temperatures during testing reached the 30s so for safety the event was held as an 1/8th mile track. First pass went poor producing misfires at the top of the rpm range. After some minor adjustments the second pass went well. 6.97 at 99.76mph very close to Nightmare’s fastest 1/8th mile. We parked the car to save it for Race 2. January 15th, 2017 Race 2. Qualifying produced the fastest 1/8th mile Nightmare has run 9.931 at 99.91mph. Round 1 was a win for the Nightmare Team. It was a big win against the electronics in the other lane. Round 2 was Quarter Finals and the ladder lane choice going to the other lane. Fortunately we got the right lane which we preferred. This time we were late at the start against the electronics and Quarter Finals resulted in a loss. Overall the weekend was a huge success and the team should perseverance. At the end of the day we are very proud to be currently 10th in points and we are gaining momentum. Next Race February 12th... Comments are closed.
